With the meetings marketplace constantly changing, contract negotiations can be an ever changing proposition as well.  With so much emphasis placed on economic items such as room rates and attrition fees, often focus is lost on legal issues such as force majeure and insurance.  Join hospitality attorney Naomi Angel as she facilitates a lively discussion on negotiation strategies for success in today’s marketplace as well as the key legal issues which should be addressed in every contract.  Come prepared to share your questions and negotiation experience.

The next evolution of the Internet is here.  With emerging technologies such as social networking, blog posting, pinning, virtual meetings and tradeshows, are you doing everything you can to protect your organization against liability?  Join hospitality industry attorney Naomi Angel as she considers a variety of examples and provides insight on today’s hottest social media trends and the legal risks which accompany their use.  Topics to be addressed include social media, blog, and Pinterest policies, defamation, electronic “protected concerted activity,” disclaimers, indemnification, and insurance.  Participants will also learn the basics of copyrights and trademarks and how they apply to emerging technologies. This cutting edge session has something for everyone so don’t miss it!

Speaker Bio:

Naomi Angel, Esq.
Naomi Angel, a partner with Howe & Hutton, Ltd., works with individuals and organizations in the meetings, travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Additionally, she serves as General Counsel to national and international trade associations and professional societies, providing guidance in the areas of intellectual property, contracts, risk management, business continuity and disaster planning, governance, standards development, certification and accreditation, product liability, antitrust, and international organizational issues. Naomi has appeared before federal and state agencies and worked with national research laboratories, advocating positions on behalf of client associations.  She has extensive commercial litigation experience at state and federal levels and is also a trained mediator.  Naomi is a frequent speaker for MPI and its chapters, PCMA, SGMP, ASAE and its affiliated societies, SITE, and other groups in the meetings and hospitality industries. She also regularly writes articles for association journals on a wide range of legal issues of interest.   Naomi is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and serves on ASAE’s Association Law & Policy Committee; the Association Forum of Chicagoland; and the Chicago Bar Association; and is a past chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Trade and Professional Association Committee. She is a graduate of UCLA and DePaul University College of Law where she was a member of the Editorial Board of the DePaul Law Review and a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Richard Cudahy, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.

The mission of FEED AMERICA in Wisconsin is to collect food and related products and distribute them to qualified non-profit programs. Through the fox valley branch they provide more than 2 million pounds of food annually to 300 nonprofit programs in 27 counties. More than 62,000 people depend on Feeding Wisconsin Second Harvest Fox Valley distribution center. Since 1982 they have distributed more than 220 million pounds of food to the hungry in our state.
