You, as a member, friend or guest of the Wisconsin Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, are hereby summoned for jury duty to decide the issues in the above-mentioned matter on January 5, 2012, Holiday Inn West, Madison Wisconsin at 12:00 Noon. This will be an opportunity for you to determine the guilt or innocence of the parties.

At the conclusion of the trial, you will be given instructions as to your responsibilities as jurors but your failure to appear may be detrimental to your understanding liability issues . . . but if you come, more importantly, you will have fun, learn and know more about why you don't want to go to court.

A copy of the Complaint filed and a statement of undisputed facts will be provided to you at the trial.

At the conclusion of the trial, you will be asked to render a verdict on the issues presented.

Speaker Bio:
Jonathan T. Howe, Esq. is the President/Senior Partner of Howe & Hutton, Ltd., a law firm with offices in Chicago, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. He has written hundreds of articles, papers and books, and has spoken to organizations all over the world on all manner of legal issues. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Northwestern University and his Juris Doctorate with highest distinction from Duke University where he was first in his graduating class. He is a life member of the Duke Law School Board of Visitors.

He serves as general counsel for Meeting Professionals International, the International Special Events Society and Trade Show Exhibitors Association among others. He also is general counsel for the prestigious Association Committee of 100 sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Jon is extremely active in all aspects of the association and hospitality meetings industry. He is a founder, past president and former board member of the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys. He is the special advisor to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Meetings and Travel and served as a member of its Task Force on Membership Benefits for Disabled Lawyers. He was the first chair of the APEX panel on industry contracts for the Convention Industry Counsel.

He serves as a trustee on several charitable and educational foundation boards. He is a past president of the 93,000 member National School Board Association and its Foundation.

Jon has received numerous awards throughout his career including: The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International PaceSetters Award, the Association Forum of Chicagoland Associate Member of the Year and the Meeting Professionals International Industry Award. Since 1995 when Meeting News began to list the 25 most influential people in the meetings industry, Jon has been named almost every year. The Chicago Tribune named him “Mr.Association Lawyer of the U.S.” He was the first recipient of the Hospitality Industry Attorney of the Year Award from the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Jon is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives, he is the immediate past chair of the ASAE Legal Section Council.

He is one of the few lawyers in the United States to have argued before the United States Supreme Court.
